TATTOO FAQ

What are your rates? How much will it cost?

There are a few variables that effect the cost of the tattoo. They include overall size, detail, complexity of the design, and placement on the body. Any single-session tattoo designs are priced depending on those criteria, not as an hourly rate. Hourly rate or session rate only applies to large scale multiple-session tattoos. Rates are discussed at the consultation.

What occurs during the consultation?

The consultation is important to clarify your tattoo design. It is a time to show me any image references you have to express what you want in your tattoo. I will explain what is and is not possible, as well as what I believe is the best way to execute your idea. I will answer any questions or concerns you may have about the process. The consult is an opportunity for us to connect and be sure we can work well together. At the end of the consult, you will give your cash deposit and I will book your tattoo appointment.

What is the deposit for?

The deposit serves as a down payment for the tattoo and confirms that you are serious about getting tattooed. It holds your appointment spot and is subtracted from the total cost of the tattoo. If the design requires multiple sessions, the deposit will be subtracted from the total cost of the last session. All deposits are non-refundable. Any rescheduling or cancellations require at least 48 hours or you forfeit your deposit.

When will I see the   designs?

All the designs will be seen on the day you come in for your tattoo appointment. I prepare for each client as their appointment approaches. I do not send any designs in advance. You will see all the options I have designed for you at your tattoo appointment. Any small changes can be made at that time.

How should I prepare for the tattoo?

It is very important to be as calm and relaxed as possible during the tattoo to ensure I can do the best job possible. Making sure you are well rested, well fed, and in a good mental state to help the process go smoothly. To avoid tension, shaking, and fatigue, avoid vigorous exercise 1-2 days before and avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment. Avoid sunburns, tattooing is not possible over sunburned skin. Please arrive a few minutes early so you are not rushed and flustered. It is important and helpful to settle your body and mind before beginning the tattoo experience.

How do I care for my tattoo?

Keep your bandage on until you are ready to wash the tattoo. Gently clean your tattoo with soap and water to remove any greasy residue. Do not scratch with a sponge or rag, just use your hand. After the area has been cleaned, gently pat it dry with a towel. Do not re-bandage. Apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor on the area 2-3 times per day for 3 days. Be sure to wash your tattoo with soap and water daily. For the first few days, it is normal to experience redness, swelling, and tenderness. Your tattoo may also be weepy - this is normal, just gently pat it dry. Be aware that the weepiness may stain clothing and sheets. Avoid wearing tight clothing to prevent irritation. After the 3rd day, switch to a gentle fragrance-free hand lotion. Your tattoo will become itchy and flakey - this is normal. Do not scratch or pick the flakes, allow them to fall off naturally. Keep the area moisturized to help alleviate itching. Use the lotion as needed and remember, less is more. Your tattoo should be fully healed in 2-3 weeks. During the healing process, avoid direct sunlight, swimming, soaking, excess sweating, strenuous exercise, and contact with bacteria (like gym equipment, yoga mats, etc.).

What if I am running late or stuck in traffic?

Do your best to be on time and plan ahead for any traveling/traffic issues. Make your appointment a priority to avoid being late. We both agreed to set this time aside to focus on your tattoo. Contact me via email ASAP to let me know if you will be late so I can try to adjust my schedule. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you will be charged for the missed time.
